10 Actors Completely Cut Out Of Huge Movies
7. Harrison Ford - E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
Steven Spielberg is one of the most famed and respected directors of all time, and has a quite ridiculous list of iconic films to his name. Two of his most popular outings came out within just a year of each other, with Raiders of the Lost Ark coming in 1981, followed by E.T. the Extra Terrestrial in 1982.
Of course, the director worked with Harrison Ford on the former, solidifying Ford's status as a megastar during the height of the original Star Wars trilogy, and he actually worked with Spielberg again on E.T.
In what ultimately ended up being a deleted scene, Ford came in to play the Principal of Elliott's school. Though he had his back to the camera the entire time, and never actually showed his face, no one could have mistook the voice of Indiana Jones. Behind him, E.T. made Elliott levitate in his chair before dropping him back to the ground just in time so that Ford's character was none the wiser.
Though the scene ultimately wouldn't have added anything to the story, it would have been a wonderful little Easter egg. At the very least, it served for what was likely Elliott actor Henry Thomas' favourite day on set. How often do you get to meet and act with a star of Harrison Ford's caliber at such a young age?
