10 Actors Who Didn't Realise They Were In Crap Films
5. Henry Cavill - Man Of Steel
Poor Henry Cavill. He spends a decade trying to be Superman and when he finally gets the role it's in an absolutely terrible film. First was he cast as Clark Kent in Superman: Flyby, the J.J. Abrams-scripted failed attempt to reboot the franchise that spluttered into nothing in the early-naugties, then was beaten to the prize of lead in Superman Returns by Brandon Routh. Finally getting to play the Last Son of Krypton in Man Of Steel, the culmination of a decade long wait should have been a career-defining moment. And it sort of is, but for the wrong reason. Man Of Steel was a film that so failed to connect with the audience that Warner Bros. have been throwing everything they can at the sequel. Fundamentally flawed, with a director who couldn't direct traffic and the writer from The Dark Knight Trilogy who wasn't Christopher Nolan, the film was doomed to be a mess, but that didn't stop Cavill from thinking he'd finally got his big break. After trying for the hero so much he probably didn't go as far to actually question some of the scripts dumber parts. To be fair to him, he was one of the better things in the film, but he didn't offer enough to save it.
