10 Actors In Recent Movies WAY Less Than Expected
8. Katy O'Brian - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning
It's painfully clear watching Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning that director Christopher McQuarrie struggled to make room for the series' ever-ballooning ensemble.
Given that The Final Reckoning barely feels like it gives enough meaningful screen time to several of the team's most prominent characters, there comes a point where throwing more name actors at the thing starts to feel redundant.
And while the likes of Nick Offerman, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, and Hannah Waddingham get disappointingly little to do in this sequel, the most squandered new cast member is surely Katy O'Brian.
O'Brian proved with last year's Love Lies Bleeding that she's not only an incredible physical specimen but has enormous dramatic screen presence, and so when she was cast in The Final Reckoning, there was reasonable hope that she'd be playing a substantial role as either hero or villain.
Yet O'Brian is really just part of the furniture here, showing up briefly as Kodiak, a U.S. Navy diver onboard the submarine USS Ohio.
Aside from fleetingly saving Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) life when he's attacked by an assassin onboard the sub, she's barely allowed to make a dent.
Given that O'Brian could've been a force to be reckoned with in basically any of the movie's set pieces, what a waste this was.
