10 Actors That Were Totally Wasted In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Neal McDonough - €œDum Dum€ Dugan - Captain America: The First Avenger

There's no doubting the fact that Neal McDonough is a solid actor, and his Captain America character - "Dum Dum" Dugan - remains a fan favourite. The casting seemed perfect... and then The First Avenger was released and... well, Dugan wasn't in the movie very much at all. Perhaps this will be rectified by having him return for the newly announced Agent Carter series as it is set in the same time period, but if he doesn't end up popping up on that show, it can't look like anything else other than a dreadful decision - pretty much wasting an actor of his abilities on such a minuscule role. What could McDonough have played instead, then? Well, already it's easy to see that he would have been far better than Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow in the second Captain America flick - a part that presumably would have resulted in him returning in the future to play iconic bad guy Crossbones at a later date. He would have also have been able to play a brilliant Bullseye (and would wipe away the remains of any memory of that awful rendition by Colin Farrell with his dumb forehead scarring that made him look like he was meant to be in Stargate SG-1).
