10 Actors Who Could Be The Breakout Stars Of 2018
3. Robert Sheehan
You Know Him From:
Playing nigh-on immortal cocky loudmouth Nathan in delinquents with superpowers TV series Misfits. Sheehan also had a recurring role on Irish crime drama Love/Hate and Sky's arctic thriller Fortitude. His previous movie experience includes young adult urban fantasy misfire The Mortal Instruments.
In 2018:
From The Mortal Instruments to the similarly titled Mortal Engines, Sheehan seems determined to get himself into a successful fantasy franchise sooner or later. Fortunately for the charismatic Irish actor Philip Reeve's steampunky Predator Cities series looks to be a safer bet than the derivative Mortal Instruments.
Mortal Engines comes from Peter Jackson (serving as writer and producer while his protege Christian Rivers directs), who has something of a pedigree in fantasy franchises and in picking less familiar actors to play important roles within them. Sheehan and Da Vinci's Demons' Hera Hilmar are the leads here as a low-class Londoner and a fugitive assassin respectively. Both could get a big career boost should the film match Jackson's previous successes.
Elsewhere in 2018, Sheehan will star opposite David Tennant in crime thriller Bad Samaritan and will further up his geek cred with the Netflix series adaptation of Dark Horse Comic Umbrella Academy, originally by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and co-starring Ellen Page.
