10 Actors Who Have Become Badass Directors

1. Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig has solo directed two feature length films. Both of them were nominated for Best Picture.

Before becoming Twitter's favourite director, Gerwig was better known as an actress. She was a frequent collaborator of future partner Noah Baumbach, appearing in his films Greenberg, Mistress America, and as the title character in Frances Ha, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

In 2017, Gerwig captured the world's attention with her solo directorial debut Lady Bird. The coming of age story about a quirky teenage girl's clashing with her mother was just as funny as Christine's titular nickname, and Gerwig earned two Oscar nominations for her work behind the camera and on the script.

In 2019, Gerwig struck again with a remake of Little Women. She cleverly plays with time the way no adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel had before, and let audiences fall in love with the March sisters once again.

Greta Gerwig is likely destined to become one of the great directors of her time, and it all started with her acting career.
