10 Actors Who Need Saving From Bad Movie Choices
2. Ray Liotta
Ray Liotta was officially typecast a long ago, but it's mostly his fault since he's apparently incapable of passing up an opportunity to remind the world that he was in Goodfellas.
This isn't always a bad thing, since he's usually more than convincing in a gangster role (see Killing Them Softly for a relatively recent example), but his decision to pursue samey projects has only detracted from his attempts to diversify.
Two of Liotta's most memorable post-Goodfellas outings are Unlawful Entry, in which he plays an unhinged law enforcement officer, and Narc as a hard-boiled detective, proving typecast actors aren't necessarily one-trick ponies.
The Hollywood veteran's recent attempts to branch out in to other genres have, however, been painful, with comedy Flock of Dudes and comedy-drama The Last Dance adding a pair of black marks to his CV.
Risk-taking can occasionally be a good thing, especially for a typecast actor, but Liotta has taken the wrong ones of late.
