10 Actors Who Shot Movie Scenes Without Permission
3. Caroline Munro - The Last Horror Film
This 1982 cult classic horror-comedy from schlock peddlers Troma Entertainment stars Joe Spinell as a New York taxi driver who stalks a beautiful actress (Caroline Munro) at the Cannes Film Festival, all while the actress' friends start brutally dying off.
In surely one of the ballsiest feats of guerrilla filmmaking ever, director David Winters had the entire production descend upon the actual 1981 Cannes Film Festival without seeking the festival's permission.
Winters' masterstroke was in hiring former Bond girl Caroline Munro to star, her glitzy presence seeming totally on-brand for Cannes and ensuring the film could shoot at and around the festival grounds without attracting excess attention.
The result is a surreal, meta, and impressively creative film that's all the more peculiar if you've ever visited Cannes yourself.
Given that the festival is effectively a media scrum, Winters and his crew blended in perfectly, and the final film is shockingly coherent considering it was thrown together as-is.
