10 Actors Who Will Ruin 2019 Films

8. Josh Gad - Artemis Fowl

In development since 2001, the big-screen adaptation of the Artemis Fowl book series is finally going ahead next year, with Kenneth Branagh at the helm. The cast is mostly made up of up-and-coming stars and unknowns, but the movie does have a couple big names on board, namely Judi Dench and, uh, Josh Gad.

Actually putting in some pretty good turns in animated flicks like Frozen and even The Angry Birds Movie, Gad is a rather divisive screen presence, with his contribution to movies like Pixels leading to him being typecast as a goof. As a result, it's easy to see how his casting as the thieving Mulch Diggums in Artemis Fowl could turn into yet another mugging contest between him and the rest of the cast.

Gad's comedic presence can make a film better, but Branagh's last movie Murder on the Orient Express proved the director couldn't quite get the actor to work outside of his schtick. Hopefully that will be remedied for Artemis Fowl given the more outlandish nature of the role, but that could simply give the actor an excuse to indulge in his worst quirks.
