Many actresses have come to the Bond franchise in a career upswing and have then struggled. Tanya Roberts, who sadly passed away earlier this year, is just such an actress.

Before crossing paths with Roger Moore’s James Bond as geologist, Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill (1985), Roberts starred in the last season of Charlie’s Angels (1976-1981) and in cult films such as The Beastmaster (1982), which was how she came to be noticed by producer, Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli.

After “cleaning up a few details” in a shower with Roger Moore (who was embarrassed that even Roberts’ mother was younger than him), Tanya sadly did not progress beyond smaller movies and television productions.

She gained a newfound fame on television in That ‘70s Show (1998-2006), but quit as a series regular in 2001 owing to her husband’s failing health. She later retired from acting in 2005 to care for him, but remained a popular and uplifting presence online with her fans as well as focusing on her lifelong love for animals.

Tragically, she passed away nearly four years after Roger Moore, despite being 28 years his junior!

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
