10 Amazing "Call And Responses" In Wrestling
6. Daniel Bryan - YES! YES! YES!
This wasn't so much a call and response as it was a signal for change, but my word, did Daniel Bryan get a simple word over.
A simple chant that became a movement, the genius behind everything to do with Bryan’s rise to the top of WWE is that it was never planned. Don’t let WWE’s pivot to being behind the rise of the ‘Yes! Movement’ fool you. This one was organic and spat in the face of the outdated WWE creative process.
WWE wanted Batista vs Randy Orton at WrestleMania XXX, but after cruelly denying D-Bry his moment at SummerSlam the year prior due to Orton’s MITB cash-in, the fans rallied behind him. The nowadays ‘Bryan Danielson’ had gotten over with the fans and the thunderous ‘YES!’ chants that echoed whenever he thrust his fingers in the air was proof of it.
It’s still beloved now, and can be seen across multiple promotions when the fans are in agreement with what they are seeing. Despite not doing it once since his arrival in All Elite Wrestling, the ‘American Dragon’ is still welcomed by a sea of fans pointing to the skies.
Similar to the deplorable ‘What!?’ chant, this is one call and response that is unlikely to ever go away. But unlike the ‘What!?’ chant, it’s a welcome addition to the pantheons of wrestling.
