10 Awesome Action Movies That Didn't Need A Sequel, Remake Or Reboot

5. Air Force One

Air Force One was just one of many brilliantly simple high-concept action movies that arrived during the 1990s that made the decade a strong contender to be named the greatest ever for the genre. While the synopsis can be boiled down to 'Die Hard on the President's plane', Wolfgang Petersen's blockbuster is much more than that.

Harrison Ford was the ideal candidate to star seeing as he could convince audiences that he was capable of both leading an entire country and single-handedly dismantling a terrorist cell, while Gary Oldman once again proved his worth as one of cinema's most reliable villains by giving us another entertainingly overblown antagonist.

A brand-specific sequel was rumored to be in development as recently as last year that would focus on the Vice President, because his preferred mode of transport is known as Air Force Two, but thankfully the idea seems to have been shelved. There may have been a distinct lack of a**-kicking Presidents on the big screen, but when its already been done this well before there's little point in even trying to replicate the formula for success.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
