10 Awesome Female Directors Who Need A Superhero Movie
4. Jennifer Yuh Nelson
Jennifer Yuh Nelson holds the distinction of being the only woman to direct a major Hollywood animated film on her own, having graduated from being a storyboard artist to directing the last two Kung Fu Panda movies. With over a billion dollars in combined box office and an Academy Award nomination to her name, she's by far one of the most successful female directors working today.
Considering how The Incredibles' Brad Bird made a smooth-as-silk transition to live-action with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, why couldn't Nelson do the same, but with a superhero movie?
How Likely Is It?: Nelson's upcoming sci-fi thriller The Darkest Minds will hopefully cement whether she sinks or swims in the live-action arena, but given the strength of her work on Kung Fu Panda and her background in storyboarding, she'll certainly be an attractive prospect to movie studios. 7/10
