When Quentin Tarantino first burst onto the scene in 1992 with his debut feature Reservoir Dogs, it took the movie world by storm. His equally brilliant sophomore effort Pulp Fiction ensured that his signature style and unforgettable dialogue would remain buried in the minds of cinephiles everywhere for decades to come.

And when something’s that popular, you’re going to get an army of copycats right behind it. In the Nineties, there were more than a few attempts to imitate the Tarantino flair and most of them just came across as pale imitations. Suicide Kings is one of the palest.

Johnny Galecki plays a member of a gang of students conspiring to kidnap a high ranking mafioso to get the money they need to rescue their kidnapped friend. It’s profane and full of violence, both things that are staples of a Tarantino feature. But there’s no deeper meaning to any of it and everyone can see that it’s just a blatant attempt to cash in on a trend.

Still, at least there’s far fewer shots of feet than you would usually see in your average Tarantino flick.
