10 Bad Signs That Spell Doom For Paul Feig's Ghostbusters

3. They Should Have Just Changed The Name, But Didn't

If you couldn't get the original cast back - which with the passing of Harold Ramis ceased being a possibility - then there were really two options for this film: one, make it a loose sequel. Two, make it something else entirely, inspired by Ghostbusters, but not part of the franchise. Ghost Hunters, if you must. Of course, Sony would then lose the ability to milk the name and logo and borrow existing concepts like proton packs and the Ecto-1, but it would have been the respectful thing to do for a franchise that recently lost one of its founding fathers.

Instead, the almighty dollar ruled the day at Sony.

Sad, but not surprising. If anything was learned through the Sony e-mail hack/leaks it's that they don't exactly know how to treat the properties they own (or be a successful entertainment company at this point, or in some cases even be decent human beings).
