10 Badly Miscast Actors In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
5. Natalie Portman - Jane Foster (Thor)
Natalie Portman isn't "miscast" in the same way that most of the other actors on this list are. And the main reason for that, ultimately, is that Natalie Portman isn't wrong for the role of Jane Foster, in as much as she just should not be playing the role at all.
It's as simple as that. An actor of her calibre, with an Oscar for Best Actress under her belt, playing a vague and mostly uninteresting love interest in a Marvel movie? It just doesn't make sense. So as much as she plays Jane as well as such a bland character can be played, the fact that she's here is insane. Actually think about it: Portman has featured in two Thor movie thus far. In the first one, the role seemed like something unworthy or her talents, but we sort of went along with it, 'cause hey, Natalie Portman is hot. By the time Thor: The Dark World swung around, though, Jane had been reduced to a mere plot point - a character who literally spent the movie in a state of unconsciousness.
That's not a joke. And the fact is, absolutely anybody with even mild acting capabilities could play her part. For squandering her talents alone, this is major miscasting.
