10 Badly Miscast Actors In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
4. Sebastian Stan - The Winter Soldier (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
Choo choo! All aboard the controversial opinion train. Okay, so it seems somewhat ridiculous given how much praise Sebastian Stan received for his turn as The Winter Soldier, which was about as bland and flat as the worst kinds of comic book movie performances (the forgettable ones, we mean). Thing is, Sebastian Stan ended up bagging a role that he would have never have been gifted with unless he'd been cast as Bucky Barnes in the first Captain America movie, at a point when the studio had no real idea that he'd become a major villain later on.
After all, in the original, Barnes was a secondary character - and Stan did fine in the role, delivering the sort of performance that you'd expect from a TV actor cast in a small part in a Hollywood movie. Marvel, who are suckers for continuity, of course, decided that they'd let him reprise the role for The Winter Soldier and gave him the opportunity to play the major freakin' villain. But make no mistake; Stan isn't memorable enough an actor for this role. He's deftly miscast and should feel lucky that, in this case, Marvel just opted to keep the continuity in line.
