Goodnight Mummy, originally titled Ich seh Ich she (I See I See), is one of those films that social media outlets posted about, stating people couldn't watch the full trailer it was that terrifying. Hyperbolic statements like this can put you off watching a horror film, but in this instance, it's not too far off the mark.

This minimilast Austrian film focuses solely on three characters, the story of two young twin boys awaiting their mothers return, only to find a distant and suspicious woman they do not trust in their stylish modern home in the middle of nowhere.

What lands this film on the list is the amazing framing of the family and their home, with countless static shots and not much panning or zooming. The focus of these shots is the twins, their issues with identity and the effect that the mother has on them and the effect they have on the mother.

There are unmissable similarities to The Babadook, storywise. Visually, another much loved modern horror film, Let The Right One In shares stylistic characteristics. The terror of this film, is not in jump scares or monsters in the dark, its the subtle, sadistic imagery dotted throughout the runtime.

I watch, then I write. It could gory horror movies or confusing yet loveable cult hits like Donnie Darko. So have a look at what I write, or don't. It's fine, I don't mind.
