5. Get Out - Chris Vs. Rose

Get Out may not be an action film, but it does feature one of the most memorable set-pieces of the year, as poor Chris attempts to flee the demented Armitage family, who wish to turn him into their own personal puppet.

Chris' girlfriend Rose, who is in on the scheme with the rest of her family, attempts to shoot him before he can leave, while siccing her own grandpa, who is using the body of black housekeeper Walter, on him too.

However, Chris uses his phone's camera flash to snap Walter out of the trance, at which point he takes Rose's shotgun, shoots her in the gut and then blows his own head off. Chris can't bring himself to strangle Rose to death, just as a police car shows up and it seems that Chris' luck may have finally run out, racism and all.

However, in a delicious reveal, it's actually Chris' pal Rod in the car, who drives him away from the Armitage estate as Rose presumably bleeds out.

Sure, Chris is still basically screwed, but the sheer visceral relief at Rod's arrival just might top pretty much any other feeling in a movie this year.
