Having spent years directing music videos for the likes of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z, and Green Day, Francis Lawrence completely changed gears when he made his debut in Hollywood. Tackling a property as long-running and well-loved as Hellblazer was always going to be difficult, but Lawrence came in and blew everyones socks off. Handling a $100m. budget like it was nothing at all, he coaxed the best performance out of Keanu Reeves since his work on The Matrix six years earlier, a great triple-role from Rachel Weisz, and a flawless performance from Tilda Swinton as the androgynous angel Gabriel. It was met with mixed reviews at the time, but has thankfully since gained the cult following it so deserves.
Movie / TV enthusiast with a DVD and Blu-ray collection bigger than I'd care to admit. If anyone is offering creative / furniture solutions to house them, I'm all ears.
