10 Best Disney Live-Action Movie Remakes Ranked Worst To Best
3. Cinderella
A straight and by the book retelling of Cinderella, rather than an adaptation as some of the other are, was a wise choice by Ken Branagh. Cinderella might be the most famous of all the princess stories of the ages gone by, it brought Fairy God Mother's and transmogrified pumpkins into the social lexicon, as well as the glass slipper.
When Disney decided that it was time to bring her to life on the big screen they hired Kenneth Branagh to do the creative work, it was a good choice. Branagh specialises in Shakespeare and tales of old, so bringing her to life was right up his street.
The cast were impeccable as they supported our prisoner turned princess. Cate Blanchett, being the flawless actress she always is, nailed her evil Step-Mother routine and gave real emotion and reason to her, the likes of which we have never seen before. Richard Madden too was delightful as our prince in search of his beloved, and Helena Bonham Carter will forever be the image of a Fairy God Mother to millions of children around the globe.
However, the real kudos go to Lily James, as she gave Cinderella life, she also gave her complexity and anger, which served to make her wholly real.
The film made good money at the box-office and to date, no sequel has been mooted, which is a good thing.
