10 Best Ever Movie Bartenders

3. Wayne - Crazy Heart

Eric Stoltz in Kicking and Screaming
Fox Searchlight Pictures

Scott Cooper's Crazy Heart rightfully earned Jeff Bridges an Oscar for portraying the irresponsible, hard-drinking country music legend Bad Blake, who in his declining years is being overshadowed by those who grew up listening to him. At the film's start, he's washed up, but a gig opening for one of his proteges gives him a second chance at fame and love - if he can walk straight for a full set.

Alas, after an incident where he leaves his love interest Maggie Gyllenhaal's son alone in a mall, he decides it's time to straighten himself out. So who better to call than your bartender?

Robert Duvall plays Wayne, his longtime barkeep, but it's clear their relationship runs deeper than free shots. And Cooper and Duvall only give us little, subtle moments to let the audience in on their friendship - such as the moment when Duvall picks up Bridges from a rehab clinic and does a short, goofy dance. It's just a brief moment, probably improvised, but it tells us more about Blake and Wayne than any monologue ever could.

Also, a bartender who transports you to and from rehab is one you want on speed dial.
