10 Best Fan Theories For 2017's Biggest Movies
2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Rey Was Cloned From Luke’s Hand
Since Rey made her debut in the Star Wars universe two years
ago, we’ve all been speculating wildly about her parentage. Is she Obi-Wan
Kenobi’s kid? Or maybe Han Solo and Leia Organa’s secret daughter and therefore
the sister of Kylo Ren? She couldn’t be Snoke’s daughter, could she?
Well, we finally got a rather underwhelming answer in The Last Jedi this month when it was revealed that (HUGE STAR WARS SPOILERS INCOMING) Rey’s parents were actually scumbag nobodies who sold her for drink money and abandoned her on Jakku. Oh.
Until this reveal, one of the best theories to emerge was that Rey was actually cloned not from Luke Skywalker proper but his severed hand – the one we last saw in The Empire Strikes Back clutching Luke’s blue lightsabre after daddy Darth Vader chopped it off – which would explain the vision she had touching the rescued Skywalker lightsabre (sans severed hand) in The Force Awakens.
Although the theory has now been proven wrong, it doesn’t answer the question of where has Luke’s severed hand been all this time if it wasn’t being used to create future Jedi? Seriously, Luke’s severed hand – if you’re out there give us a wave and let us know you’re ok.
