9. Fright Night (2011)
Based On: 1985 horror comedy Fright Night This movie is more fun and potentially less frightening than the others on the list, but it deserves a spot for being a fun movie in a genre that often zaps away fun at every step. Featuring the excellent Anton Yelchin who may have been a little too old to play a high-schooler, Colin Farrell as the vampire-next-door, and David Tennant as the Gilderoy Lockheart of vampire hunters, Fright Night is awesome. One of the few movies that used 3D well, let alone horror 3D movies which are justifiably known for haphazardly throwing dangerous objects at the audience through the screen, Fright Night's impressive visuals enhance the movie without overwhelming it. An enjoyable watch and a movie that you can turn the channel to any time it is on cable, Fright Night is a solid horror remake.
