10 Best Horror Movie Remakes

8. Quarantine (2008)

quarantineBased On: 2007 horror classic REC Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter fame stars as a TV reporter who gets more than she asks for after following firefighters on their job. Criticism of Quarantine revolved around the fact that it was almost a carbon copy of REC (give or take a few thematic elements) and it didn't stand up to the original. I will admit that the movies are very similar and the one year difference between the release of the two films probably didn't give the filmmakers of Quarantine much opportunity to switch things up, but I see Quarantine as a faithful adaptation of REC rather than a reenactment. The found-footage genre has gotten a little overplayed recently, but REC and Quarantine show that all it takes to make a stale idea fresh is good execution. And even if you've seen REC, Quarantine will still be a worthy scare-fest. Do not drag me gentle into that good night.
