10 Best MCU Endings

5. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. II

Guardians of the Galaxy was the wild experiment for the MCU that somehow worked. The public at large might not have had much knowledge of the comic book, but the amazing performance by the actors and the vision of James Gunn has turned characters like Groot and Star-Lord into household names. The introduction of these characters may have started things off right, but Guardians II was where the real magic started to work.

Up until the ending, Peter Quill has wanted to finally get acquainted with his father Ego, only to find out that his god-like power is just being used to spread chaos across the universe. While the Guardians are able to come out on the other side, we end up seeing the last of the Ravager Yondu, who had become the unofficial father figure for Quill throughout his life.

Originally ostracised from the Ravagers for warming up to his adopted son, Yondu’s final actions to keep Quill safe ended up being one of the most heartfelt moments in the MCU. The tears were already bad enough, but it gets all the more powerful at the very end, where Rocket calls all of Yondu’s old Ravager buddies to make a true Ravager funeral.

There may have been plenty of moments that tugged at your heartstrings, but Yondu’s last ditch effort to help his son still remains one of the most impressive redemptive arcs in the history of the MCU.
