10 Best Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
In November 2014, Disney dropped their first trailer for The Force Awakens. Given the previous Star Wars movie came out back in 2005, fans of the franchise were ecstatic to take a peek at Episode VII.
The point of this teaser was to give Star Wars fans a glimpse of The Force Awakens. Other than the minimalist voiceover from Snoke, there’s no detail on either the plot or the new characters.
But the trailer does provide a clear insight into the tone of the film, and it’s clear immediately that Disney are echoing the tone of the original trilogy. The shots of Stormtroopers, X-Wings, and the desert-like planet of Jakku are all highly reminiscent of the early Star Wars movies. Given how well-loved these films are, such a tone was exactly what fans wanted to see.
In essence, the brilliance of this trailer was how much excitement it generated despite how little it showed.
