Sticking with the downright scary, here's Karen Gillan also getting to grips with the paranormal in one of her most high profile post-Who roles to date. The Amy Pond actress starred in the 2013 psychological horror Oculus as Kaylie Russell, a troubled young woman who believed that her childhood home was the subject of an otherworldly phenomenon. Determined to uncover the truth once and for all, she teamed up with her reluctant on screen brother (Brenton Thwaites) to transform the scene of their parents' unexplained deaths into a study of supernatural surveillance. And you can probably guess what happens next, can't you? Needless to say, it all escalates very quickly. Approach with caution if you're particularly squeamish. You'll never look at an apple in the same way again.
