Clearly not content with leaving her mark on just one formidable fantasy franchise, Karen Gillan set her sights on conquering the Marvel universe last year when she karate kicked her way on to a big screen near you as Nebula in James Gunn's summer smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy. In what was one of her most diverse and unrecognisable roles to date, the Amy Pond star's portrayal of this much beloved malevolent mercenary required her to go the extra mile by shaving her iconic ginger locks off. On top of that, she fought her way through months of intense combat training and spent up to 5 hours a day in make up to be transformed into the blue baddie you see before you. Now that's dedication. The hard work paid off, though, because she'll be back with an almighty vengeance in the sequel, due out in 2017. A bald move indeed.
