10 Best Serial Killers In Movies

3. John Doe - SE7EN

Mickey Knox Natural Born Killers
New Line Cinema

While Zodiac may have been David Fincher's second dive into the world of serial killers, SE7EN was his first and the film has lived on as one of the greatest films ever released.

Starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as two detectives in an unnamed city tracking a serial killer, SE7EN was something of an influence for later serial killer films, with it largely being described as "Saw, from the police's view".

Kevin Spacey plays the murderous John Doe, a man who has taken it upon himself to murder his victims in line with the biblical seven deadly sins, which is the film's namesake.

Doe's diligence to "preserving the word of the Good Lord" and ensuring that the will of the Bible be lived out through his victims, the murders become more and more sadistic as the film goes on.

Doe is calm, calculated and worst of all, patient. In fact, one of his victims is set up nearly a year before the film even takes place!

While liking a man who loves his work so much certainly goes out the window with this film, Somerset's (Morgan Freeman) admiration is reciprocated by the sadistic Doe who leads Somerset and Mills (Brad Pitt) on a twisted walk up the garden path.

SE7EN leaves behind one of the tensest finales ever put to film and one of the greatest endings audiences are going to see for a long while.
