10 Big Movie Franchises Chris Pratt Can Try Next

7. Top Gun 2

Chris Pratt Films
Paramount Pictures

Imagine Chris Pratt trying to out-cool Tom Cruise's Maverick? It could happen. There has been a lot of talk of a sequel to one of Cruises's biggest movies for years now. While he certainly does have a certain amount of star power still, last year's Edge Of Tomorrow proved that even having Cruise in the lead and good reviews doesn't always mean huge box office takings. A Top Gun sequel would certainly have a great deal of nostalgia going for it, but a big Hollywood star for Cruise to bounce off would do wonders for making the sequel a true success.

Enter Chris Pratt, proving that charisma and geek-cred is more than enough to make him a contender for a rival to Maverick that is even cooler than the original. Without trying to veer too much into Hot Shots territory - though Pratt would be a worthy successor to Charlie Sheen on that front - imagine an older Maverick trying to recapture his youth as a fighter pilot and finding himself left in the shadow by Pratt's ace . A slick, sunglasses-wearing, witty one-liner spouting, smooth charmer who instantly steals a bitter Maverick's thunder.

Chris Pratt proving more maverick than Maverick would cement his position as one of the fun, coolest actors in Hollywood. A long way from his days as funny man Andy Dwyer on Parks And Recreation.
