10 Biggest Downgrades In MCU History
5. The Hulk
Though he got off to a bit of a rocky start as part of Kevin Feige's early attempts to get his MCU up and running, the introduction of the brilliant Mark Ruffalo and decision to shift Bruce Banner's big green alter-ego into more of a supporting player made for a much more compelling and explosive second stab from Avengers Assemble onwards.
That being said, with The Hulk being spotted ripping through the Chitauri army with apparent ease in said feature, Marvel Studios appeared to have set their bar a bit too high too early. And outside of making Banner's gamma guy quite simply unmatched in comparison to his allies, the only way was down once the dust had settled on The Battle of New York.
Instead of leaning into the massive force's often barmy exploits seen in the comics, with Hulk knocking out Thor with a single punch and literally holding a planet together with his bare hands at one point, the MCU opted to tone down his feats of rage-induced strength and durability.
Admittedly, Endgame did see a much more subdued Smart Hulk still manage to hold his sh*t together long enough to snap half of life back into the universe. But comic book Hulk once smashed an entire dimension, so it's pretty hard to follow that, in all honesty.
