5. Friday The 13th TV Series In The Works

Friday the 13th - Hockey Mask3 We've seen a bit of a resurgence of horror on the small screen over the last couple years, thanks to shows like Supernatural, Sleepy Hollow, Bates Motel, and Hannibal, and will be seeing more soon, like the Scream series at MTV or the Rosemary's Baby miniseries at NBC. Now, we have another beloved horror franchise to add to that list, as Deadline reports that Jason Voorhees is headed to TV. That's right, Friday the 13th is headed to the small screen, from Emmet/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment. The original film's director, Sean S. Cunningham, will serve as exectuive producer, which means that the show will hopefully capture some of the essence of the storyline that sparked the long-running series 34 years ago (as opposed to 1987's Friday the 13th: The Series). Former creature designers Bill Basso and Jordu Schell have been attached to write the hour-long series, and will reportedly re-imagine Jason in "multiple time periods" (whatever that means).
