2. Joker And Batman Could Be Half-Brothers - Joker

Joaquin Phoenix's Joker movie will be an origin story, an intense character study that shows how a failed stand-up comedian - Phoenix's Arthur Fleck - descends into madness and becomes the Clown Prince Of Crime.

It's not expected to tie into the current batch of DC movies like Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Batman V Superman, so it's pretty much free to do whatever it likes in terms of world-building, continuity, and the characterisation of its main players. And in the latter area, Joker might just be about to pull a move with tantalising implications for its story.

Over the summer, That Hashtag Show shared some exclusive details about the movie's plot and characters. We know that Arthur's mother - Penny - will be in the film, played by Frances Conroy, and it's her possible connection to the Wayne family where things get super interesting.

That Hashtag Show stated that Penny could be described as “very attractive in her youth“, and “obsessed with her former employer”, before going on to speculate that not only did Penny used to work for Thomas Wayne - "her former employer" - but they had a child together. And that child could be Arthur.

It's important to note that the outlet did emphasise that this is pure speculation based on solid information they acquired, but stepping back and looking at this idea, the pieces all line up. Arthur's father hasn't been mentioned in the cast list at all, leaving a space there that Thomas Wayne could occupy. Plus, this would also be a good way for the movie to set up the Joker's animosity towards the Wayne family, which would be an interesting wrinkle if he ends up fighting Batman in any future sequels.
