1. THAT Finale
Simply put, there has been no greater WTF moment in all of cinema this year, nor will there be for the remainder of the year, than the climax of Guadagnino's Suspiria.
The coven drugs the entirety of the company and lures Dr. Klemperer to the Tanz to attempt the sabbath, a ritual that will allow Helena Markos to inhabit Susie's body. The drugged dance company spends the entirety of the sequence performing an extensive, all-nude, ritualistic dance as Klemperer is forced to bear witness.
If you think that that already sounds insane enough to earn it the number one spot on this list, you're right, but it gets even more insane. Swinton's Blanc and Helena Markos (who is also played by Tilda Swinton) get into an argument over whether Susie is ready or not, which leads to Markos using her powers to behead Blanc.
Markos turns her attention to Susie, telling her to "renounce all other mothers", as she claims to be one of the ancient Three Mothers, Mother Suspiriorum. Only for Susie to then reveal what she's just discovered; Susie is actually Mother Suspiriorum.
As the lights in the room all turn Giallo blood-red, Susie summons Death itself and proceeds to walk around the room, using her powers to make any members of the coven who voted for Markos to stay in power literally explode into geysers of blood and guts.
It is head-meltingly unbelievable and quintessentially WTF.
