8. X-23
The X-23 movie has only so far been a whispered idea with nothing concrete behind it, but if it was true it’s by far the biggest casualty of the Fox-Disney merger which sees the mutants change hands.
X-23, the young mutant played by Dafne Keen in Logan, was set to carry on Hugh Jackman’s legacy after he departed from the iconic superhero role. James Managold, who wrote, directed and produced Logan was happy for her to join the rest of the franchise, while Simon Kinberg, who directed Dark Phoenix and was due to be creative director of the series prior to the merger, had spoken about plans to bring her into the main continuity.
It’s likely the MCU will give a hard reboot to all of the X-Men, including potentially retconning Scarlet Witch. Frankly, the chances that they’ll bring Dafne Keen’s version of the character across while changing everything else is zero.
She certainly had the groundwork to build a great movie around if they explored other themes going on in Logan. If they somehow put her in the main series without upsetting the timeline, she likely would’ve been neutered anyway, so might have been doomed from the start.
