10 Characters Who Will Probably Die In 2020's Biggest Movies

4. Faith Matheson (Lin Shaye) - The Grudge

Lin Shaye has a habit of dying in horror movies. Not only did she die at the end of Insidious - in incredibly memorable fashion - but she's had deaths in Snakes On A Plane, Dead End, The Final Wish, and others. The odds, clearly, are not in her favour.

And now, here she is in another spooky flick - Sony's upcoming reboot of The Grudge. Even without factoring in the actress' tendency to meet her maker whenever she appears in a horror movie, there's evidence in the trailer that points to her not making it out of this one alive.

In fact, the very first shot of said trailer is of Shaye's character - Faith Matheson - laughing maniacally, her face covered in blood. Later on, we see her again, infected by the Grudge curse, with dirt and grime covering her clothes and her skin. The short version? She looks in awful shape, almost like the script is priming her for death.

Early clips from the film (which were screened at New York Comic-Con 2019) have confirmed that Matheson will indeed become possessed by the Grudge, and that she also cuts off her own hand at one point. If she's that far gone, then the other characters in the film will have no qualms about killing her, and in general, the possessed characters in horror movies don't stick around for very long.
