10 Classic Books That Should Be Adapted

6. 100 Years of Solitude

url-6 One of the most famous works of Latin American literature, Gabriel Garcia Marquez weaves together a work spanning generations of one family that involves the creation, life, and death of the city of Macondo. The novel popularized the use of magical realism, a style where seemingly impossible or even supernatural events are depicted in a way to seem believable. 100 Years of Solitude would be a difficult adaption because of the fantastical style it employs as well as the distinct feel that comes from it being a Latin American novel. With Hollywood producing more and more of the same stuff, a movie like 100 Years of Solitude, good or bad, would be a welcome change.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
