10 Clever Ways Horror Movies Foreshadow the Ending

We can't be expected to spot everything...

While watching a gripping horror, many questions should be swirling through the viewer's mind. Who's the next one to bite the dust? Who's the killer? Most importantly, how is it all going to end?

Most horrors like to wrap things up with something that blows our socks off, but it can be more effective if it feels like we should've seen a reveal coming. The climax of Saw, The Sixth Sense, and The Others left a massive impression because there were plenty of breadcrumbs left along the way, but there are certain films that don't just leave the odd clue here and there. Instead, they give away the entire ending very early on.

The foreshadowing in those pictures can be so sneaky that it rarely registers on a first viewing. Other times, the truth is staring at you in the face, but still goes unnoticed for one reason or another. Looking at the entries on this list, it's so obvious how everything was going to play out, to the point it's hard to understand how nobody figured it out sooner.

Despite the fact these ten movies had us racking our brains about how they were going to end, they laid it out for us almost immediately. And yes, major spoilers lie ahead. You've been warned...

10. The Board Games - Ready Or Not

Final Destination 5 Sam
Fox Searchlight

Ready or Not is one of those films that spills the beans immediately, yet nobody catches that on a first watch since it's done so tactfully.

We get off to an ominous start as the very first frame depicts the image of a grinning Devil surrounded by playing cards. As the camera zooms out, it's revealed this picture belongs to a seemingly harmless board game called Le Bail's Gambit. Once the camera pans to the side, other board games can be observed, including Family Ritual, Secret Council, Abracadabra, and Sunrise.

It may look straightforward, but this sequence spells out Ready or Not's entire plot. When the protagonist, Grace, marries into the Domas family, they inform her that they acquired their fortune after their ancestor made a deal with someone called Le Bail. As has been established in the prologue, Le Bail is the Devil. To avoid having their souls collected, the family must perform a magical ritual on Grace before sunrise.

Although these details are divulged slowly but surely, anyone who was paying attention could've deduced everything before any characters were introduced or a word of dialogue was uttered.
