10 Comic Book Movie Firings That Changed Everything

10. Val Kilmer - Batman & Robin

Val Kilmer inherited the lead role in the Batman franchise €“ for Joel Schumacher€™s 1995 film Batman Forever - when Michael Keaton turned down a huge sum of money to reprise his role from Tim Burton€™s two previous movies. You might think you'd approach such a big role with all the professionalism you could muster, but this didn't turn out to Kilmer's chosen approach. €œHe was being irrational and ballistic with the first assistant director, the cameraman, the costume people," Schumacher later said to Entertainment Weekly, speaking of Val Kilmer's behaviour on the Batman Forever set. "He was rude and inappropriate. He was childish and impossible.€ So, when it came to casting his second Bat-movie, Batman & Robin, Schumacher didn€™t want Kilmer anywhere near the film. €œHe sort of quit,€ Schumacher is quoted as saying, €œand we sort of fired him.€ So, Kilmer was shown the door. Clooney jumped on board in his stead, and ended up starring in a movie he€™d probably rather forget.
