The second part of Eli Roth’s torture porn series has plenty
of grisly set pieces that push the brutality of the genre. Three American women
find themselves in the grips of The Elite Hunting Club, who auction their lives
to the highest bidding sadist.
The movie had a variety of promotional posters. However, the creepiest is a composite image which features a nude female body seemingly carrying its own decapitated head, blended into a wall of guts and gore. The headless woman echoes both The Elite Hunting Clubs mounted head trophies and the macabre ending where a group of children play football with a severed head.
The severed head looks out though its eyes are rolled back to itself. It is gagged by a thumb hooked in the gaping mouth.
The blood and guts colour pallet is both repellent, as it is evidently biological gore, and encourages inspection because it hints at the gore kept unseen beneath the body.
Though the poster is relatively simple, it is successful in portraying the gory and macabre stomach-churner that awaits viewers who seek horror that pushes them to their limits.
