10 Deleted Scenes That Would Have Ruined Their Movies

7. Encountering A Cocooned Dallas - Alien

Just as Stanley Kubrick practically reinvented horror with The Shining, so too did Ridley Scott fuse horror and science fiction in a way never seen before with his 1979 movie Alien. Scott's tension-filled direction mixed with H. R. Giger's incredible designs have ensured that this remains one of the greatest movies of all time. As with a lot of films, however, there are some scenes which were best left out of the final edit, and with Alien that scene comes later on in the movie where Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) stumbles across the alien's lair and finds the barely alive body of Dallas (played by Tom Skerritt) cocooned in the wall. While there's nothing entirely wrong with the concept - a similar scene played out perfectly in Aliens - Ripley's dialogue feels completely out of character and the overall tone of the scene lacks impact. Check it out for yourself and see why it's a good thing it wasn't included. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rLnDtuQrtE
