10 Disappointing Comic Book Movies That Deserve A Second Chance
2. Spider-Man 3
Coming off of arguably the greatest superhero movie ever made at that point, Spider-Man 3 was trying to build on the legacy of Peter Parker by including one of his most famous villains, Venom. The hype was insane for this film only for it to be an overstuffed, underwhelming epic that ended the franchise and left fans frustrated and bewildered.
Honestly, this one still hurts. There was so much potential for this to be good and there was so much excitement, that even now it burns in the hearts of many comic fans for how it turned out.
But that does not mean the film is completely without merit. Though Sam Raimi may have been railroaded in a lot of the creative decisions, his influence is still there. Peter is still being overwhelmed by his dual life, Harry is still at odds with his father’s legacy and the action scenes are as incredible and fun as ever. You just need to know where to look for Spider-Man 3 to stop remembering it as the disappointment it initially was.
There will still be far too many subplots going on and too many villains but if you look beyond that and enjoy the tone, there’s some enjoyment to still be had from this disaster
