10 Disappointing Comic Book Movies That Deserve A Second Chance

3. Fantastic Four

Who would have thought that after three films, the much-maligned 2005 Fantastic Four would somehow become most watchable adaptation of the team? The movie definitely sucked but at least it was moderately faithful to the comics and had a bit of fun.

Fantastic Four circa 2015 was just a dour, joyless affair. There’s was no chemistry between the main characters, and by the end of the film, it’s like certain members of the four have barely even spoken to each other. Perhaps most unforgivable of all for a superhero movie, there’s next to no action.

In the wake of such a disaster, the original film retroactively becomes much more watchable. It’s still littered with flaws but ti’s a lot easier to appreciate the characters and tone once you’ve seen how easy it is to completely dishonour them.

Fantastic Four may have been silly beyond belief but it stayed true to the comics, gave some serviceable action set pieces and had a couple of enjoyable performances. That's surprisingly enough to give this adaptation another chance in the wake of what the team has become.
