10 Dumbest Deaths In Comic Book Movies

If only they'd used a little brain power...

It's just a natural part of writing drama that some characters have to face some sort of peril or catastrophe because of their own actions. After all, karma is an incredibly powerful creative tool when you're dealing with moral extremes and absolutes. Subversions are obviously welcome, but we like to be reassured that bad people will get their comeuppance, so there's usually a system built in to govern that and it's usually tied to them being idiots. Even the genius ones.

But sometimes that particular dial is turned up way too high and other characters end up being killed off as idiots too, no matter how little that momentary slip of judgement or moronic blip suits their character. And in the world of comic book movies, where worlds come under threat more than anywhere else and the chance of death is inevitably higher, it seems to happen with greater frequency too.

And while you can't argue with something like Thanos or Galactus or a world-ending threat, there are a surprising number of characters who basically just died because they messed up.

How He Dies

Death by "try me b*tch," essentially.

The most under-nourished of all DC comic book movie characters, Slipknot died for effect as a warning shot to the members of Task Force X who actually mattered. Taking a little too much advice from Boomerang, Slipknot attempts to escape from the mission, convinced that the explosive collar around his neck is fake and losing his head in the process. It's certainly a statement, at least.

Why It's Dumb

This is a villain supposedly chosen as one of the best candidates for the Squad and yet, he's willing to listen to Boomerang about the bomb collars. The same Boomerang, that is, who is demonstrably not to be trusted - considerably less than the shady government agency who would have very little to gain from putting fake bomb collars on some of their most prized, dangerous prisoner assets.

Literally considering it for more than 25 seconds would have revealed his escape attempt was plainly idiotic.
