Much like Leprechaun, Critters is a series that rarely takes itself seriously and its cult status is well earned. The franchise, four films strong, is perhaps best known for including a seventeen year old Leonardo DiCaprio in its third instalment. DiCaprio plays to his boyish charms well but overall his performance is pretty bland and generic. Noticing a developing trend yet?

It goes without saying just how successful DiCaprio is today. From his heartthrob status in Romeo & Juliet and Titanic to his action hero roles in The Departed, Inception and Shutter Island and even his acclaimed villainous turn in Django Unchained, DiCaprio has come a long way since fighting the alien hegdehogs. I doubt anyone settling down to a bit of schlock horror in 1991 in the form of Critters 3 was aware that the weird (but undeniably handsome) boy who was just sort of there would go on to have such an illustrious career.
