By all accounts, Tim Burton's Superman Lives would have been a total disaster, but what a beautiful disaster it would have been. Everything about the project seemed so bizarre and often batsh*t insane that it would have either been the most singular and unique superhero movie ever made, or it would have killed the entire genre stone dead.

Burton spent a year of his life and over $30m of the studio's money on developing a project that would never see the light of day, but enough information has been revealed about Superman Lives over the years to leave fans lamenting the fact that we never got to see it for ourselves.

From Jon Peters' insistence that the script include no flying, a fight against a polar bear, a space-dog and a giant spider, to the thought of how the wildly unpredictable Nicolas Cage would decide to approach the role of an all-powerful extra-terrestrial being, have made it the stuff of legend. Hopefully one day original writer Kevin Smith gets his wish, and we'll get to see the script brought to life as a feature-length animation.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
