This is easily the most depressing of all the fan theories, so prepare yourself. The story of Harry Potter is pretty much the neglected child's dream. He's abused by his uncle and aunt, but then suddenly gets to go to a magical world where he's not only a wizard, but a famous hero beloved throughout the secret wizarding community. And he's rich, and talented, and an amazing Quidditch played. He has two best friends that he'd do anything for and later on, a gorgeous, funny, charismatic girlfriend. A girlfriend who just happens to be his best friend's little sister, so when he marries her he officially gets to be a part of his ideal family. At a certain point, it starts to feel like maybe this is too good to be true. But what if it is? What if Harry's still that kid in the cupboard under some stairs, and he's lost touch with reality? In this theory, Hogwarts, his battles with Voldemort, his friends, everything, are all just an elaborate fantasy in his head. If you were this child, what greater delusion of grandeur could there be than an entire new world where you are loved, powerful, and special? It's probably best not to dwell on this one for too long. Do you believe any of these theories? Are there any more that were missed? Discuss all things Harry Potter down in the comments.
