The new film from J.J. Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, was teased during Paramount's panel to some insane reactions. Abrams himself introduced the footage via a pre-recorded intro, saying the movie is "batsh*t crazy" and "super fun".

The footage featured some insane visuals, including but not limited to a WWII setting, a face-eating virus, a laughing disembodied head, and alien/monsters lurking in the darkness. The story revolves around a group of Allied Marines who stumble upon a Nazi laboratory in June of 1944, hours before D-Day.

Abrams had teased previously, when promoting The Cloverfield Paradox, that this film would be a Cloverfield film as well but refuted that statement here. This is interesting for a number of reasons, perhaps primarily because CinemaCon is a theater owners' conference and the prior Cloverfield film went straight to streaming rather than getting a theatrical release.

So, whether the studio was deliberately steering the conversation away from that, or Abrams was just doing some more mystery boxing, or it really isn't tied into Cloverfield at all, is yet to be seen.

Regardless, it worked. The audience in attendance lapped up the footage, jumping at several moments and gushing about it online afterwards.
