10 Films Which Accidentally Predicted The Future

4. Taron Egerton Channels Elton John - Sing

Taron Egerton's role as Elton John in Rocketman is easily the best performance of his career, allowing him to prove himself as a dramatic actor and a great singer after previously cementing his status as an action star in Kingsman: The Secret Service.

However, this life-changing role as the music icon was actually foreshadowed in one of Egerton's previous films. 2016's Sing was an animated musical centring around animals from across the world auditioning for an X-Factor type show which could change their life. Egerton, who voices the character of Johnny the gorilla, is one of the star-studded cast who wows the judges with his rendition of Elton John's 'I'm Still Standing' during his audition.

This was not the only film which seemingly foreshadowed Egerton's casting as the titular Rocketman though. The coincidences only grow as Elton John himself actually starred alongside Egerton in Kingsman: The Golden Circle before the actor had even been considered to play the famous diva in a biopic of his life. And just to top off this list of coincidences, Egerton has noted that he would often choose to sing 'Your Song' when he was auditioning for drama schools.

An avid cinephile, love Trainspotting (the film, not the hobby), like watching bad films ironically (The Room, Cats) and hate my over-reliance on brackets (they’re handy for a quick aside though).
